These are two old masks used for the Okina dance, the opening of all Noh programs. The only difference between the two masks is in their colour: white for Hakushikijo and black for Kokushikijo. The Okina masks are the oldest of Noh theatre. Thanks to their smiling and peaceful expression, these two masks have the function of being auspicious.
